The new value of 35c for registered letters to America (10c + 25c), promoting Haitian coffee, was introduced on February 6/7, 1928, on the occasion of the arrival of Charles Lindbergh in Port au Prince, and 7900 stamps were sold on these first two days. All mail posted in Port au Prince on February 6 and 7 were canceled not only with the regular date stamp but also with a fixed red postmark showing Lindbergh’s name on a large aircraft.Surcharge (January 24, 1939)
