Coat of Arms 1898
Regular StampsThe stamps of Haiti’s only watermarked issue (“RH” for “République d’Haïti”), engraved and printed in sheets of 10x10 by the Compagnie française des papiers-monnaies of Paris, were sold out in the post office after being on sale but a few days; used on cover are therefore hard to find. The 2c. exists in shades between bright carmine-red (2) and the listed color brown carmine (1), but this variation is due to the effect of the climate. The amount of shift between the two impressions on Scott #49a varies considerably, giving each copy an individual appearance.
