1British Postal Agency in Haiti, office in Port au Prince. An example of Scott #A55 (plate 16) in very good condition. The stamp is an example of Great Britain Scott #70 cancelled with an oval “E53” obliterator. (These usages are listed in the Haiti section of the Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue 1840-1940 under the heading of Great Britain Post Offices in Haiti.) 93Haiti : The Liberty Heads. The 5c Re-Engraved of 1877, With Large Figure “5” Reconstruction Completed, written by J.R.W. Purves. A 6 page detailed article by this well known research student of the Liberty Head issues of Haiti. This article appeared in the September 1975 issue (Volume 54, Number 5) of the Collectors Club Philatelist, journal of the Collectors Club of New York. A copy of that issue is included in this Lot.
