Special Handling & Usage
49Disinfected reg. cover Port de Paix to Chicago, Dec. 5, 1901, with “disinfected” hand stamp in purple. Paid by 20 centimes (issue of Simon Sam). Cover cut along bottom for treatment; some taping evident at left. Very rare!  See HP, XV:2, p. 29 for similar cover.  Good condition considering its handling and age. 50Official post office seal on double censored airmail cover PaP-USA, September 15, 1943.   Paid by 60 centimes. Seal placed at top and folded over. Thus when being opened, seal ripped in 2 parts. For similar covers, see HP XII:1, p.6. Rare!! Link to Auction Lot #50 image150.00210.00

52Unusual usage. #CB1 [Coubertin] on commercial airmail PaP-USA, paid by 60 centimes. Crease at top; otherwise fine cond.17.5021.00
53P.P (post payé) on Gonaives to PaP via German steamer. Use of hand stamp indicates no postage on hand at P.O.  Handstamp (11 mm high) unusual in that it has period after first P only.  Postmarked Gonaives 28/?/ 1902 ?  and  back stamped 30 ?   Hinge remnants on back and tears above postmark at lower left. 54AR [Avis de Reception] hand stamp applied in red ink [uncommon]. Uniquely designed hand stamp [10 mm tall]  on reg. cover Cap H-Chicago, October 31, 1916, paid by #126 (x2) and 180 (2).  Some toning and small creases, but overall good condition.35.0061.00
55Avis de Réception [Acknowledgement of Receipt] . Two domestically used forms: pink one (138 x195 mm) postmarked PaP March 27, 1931 & paid by #315, with Senator King commemorative cancel. Yellow one (133 x 175 mm):  postmarked PaP, November 25, 1953, paid by #371 & 384 and with 2 punched holes. Some wear at bottom of each.   See p. 12 of HP XVII:18.008.00
