1H&G 1898-1, 1c blue on white, used with 2c orange Pres. Sam to Germany. Card is dated Gonaives, Dec. 7, '98, with message in German. Card has "SHIP LETTER" in red, posted aboard ship, and apparently was received and sent on to Germany at Chester, PA, a port just below Philadelphia. Destination is Krempe, Holstein. Usual slight stains and toning for this, but VF for used card. Unusual.$35.00$36.00
2H&G 1898-1 used with 2c orange Pres Sam to Germany. Message in English dated 7 December 1899, Aux Cayes. Two clear Dutch packet oval strikes and receiving mark for Cothen in Germany. Usual minor stains and toning for this, but VF for used card and unusual.35.0036.00
3H&G 1898-2, 2c orange on pink, used to Dresden, Germany from Jeremie. Two reasonably clear strikes of Jeremie cds, 25 July 04, Dresden receiving mark, message in English. No postage added, and no postage due charged. Nice, clear merchants cachet on front and notation 'By SS "Athos" via New York'. Unusually clean and VF.35.00No Bids

7H&G 1898-3 3c light green on cream, stamped on front PAQUEBOT NY 2nd DIV and "S. S. LAUENBERG" (mailed aboard ship), short message in French on back, dated Port-au-Prince, 6 Dec. 1901, and New York receiving, Dec 15, 1901. 17H&G 1898-5 2c reply card message half with 2c of 1899 added. Message half is from Otto Kicher, Jacmel, August 17, 1904, to Frans Kicher, Lagos, West Africa. This lot consists of a separated return half backstamped Lagos, West Africa, SP 26 04, to Otto Kicher, Jacmel. The owner believes this separated half is part of the original Message-Reply card. Back of message half has a message from Otto to Frans, and below it what appears to be a reply from Frans to Otto, both in German. The two halves are now separated but have all the appearance of having been used as message and reply. Both halves are sound and VF.25.0044.00
